How To Be On A Diet Constantly And Never Lose Any Weight Nor Feel Any Better

Standard business and marketing rules force businessmen to sell products that have some value, but no merchant wants to sell one great product when they can sell multiple average ones. The dieting business is certainly no exception. Why is it that the weight loss/health market is growing so fast when the quality and effectiveness of diets is globally decreasing?

- most social habits and conducts are the result of culture and depend on who releases information and for what purpose. As of today, the system promotes, to a large extent, ignorance of basic nutrition, and mass processed products (including food) are the norm. Food is viewed as a product among others, not a way to stay healthy

- lots of diets tend to be considered temporary adjustments, which obviously results in dieters getting back to their pre-diet state after a while

- in nutrition, just as in any scientific subject, when someone discovers an important factor that positively influences a desired result, they tend to abusively make things look like this factor is dominant, if not the sole one that matters, when the truth is many factors determine a person"s level of health and well being

- nutrition and the digestive system are probably the most obscure aspect of the human physiology. Only recently have scientists discovered that there are neurotransmitters within the guts, and the implications of this finding are still speculation to this day. This is just an example of how complex the digestive system is and how ignorant of it humans are

- nutritional science is aimed at finding rules that apply to all individuals or to groups of people, but a given individual has to discover their own specificities and adjust to them, which cannot be done by following a common dieting blueprint

- from a diet program seller"s point of view, there is no point in selling a very comprehensive dieting course when it is more profitable to slice the information and sell it piece by piece

- people with weight or health problems tend to lean towards easier, simpler methods or programs, which rules out a genuine education on health and well being

- health is not so much a value in modern societies as looks and appearances, which leaves room for short dieting methods that people come back to over and over whenever they feel a need for improvement, with little or no concern for the potentially harmful aspects of the diet they are on

- oftentimes, individuals that feel the need to start a diet are living such unhealthy lifestyles that just about any change will positively impact their appearance and/or well being

- the psychological causes of bad nutritional habits (stressful lifestyle and lack of information) are largely overlooked . Diet merchants focus on what we eat instead of why we eat it. This allows the dieting industry to prosper by maintaining the primary source of overweightness and diseases

Although it"s not the purpose of this article to go into how to diet successfully, here"s my personal take on one smart way to feel better and lose weight altogether:

- dieting generally involves frustration. Why not choose to make long term changes that don"t generate cycles of dieting, gaining weight, re-dieting etc? If a "diet" is not something you can sustain for more than a few weeks or months, it"s probably not good. Look for long term improvement in the way you live and eat

- look for identical principles in most methods. If almost everybody agrees on them, the odds are they are worthwhile

- look for the main guidelines in popular diets and apply the ones that don"t contradict one another. Ex: if one diet suggests that you eat unsaturated fatty acids and another suggests that you only eat fat in the morning, it"s probably a good idea to eat mono-unsaturated fatty acids in the morning

Expert opinions are important, but try to not become dependent on them. Use common sense before anything else. I"m sure you will agree that you"d better:

- stay away from MSG, aspartame, sodium fluoride in tap water, heavy metals, processed/refined foods, GMO, etc.

- eat more vegetables

- favor organic food

- reduce the average amount of food ingested in one meal, allowing your body to save energy for something other than digestion

- increase the amount of vitamin C in your diet (goji berries are a fantastic source of vit. C), especially in winter and when you are sick

- eat more foods with antioxidants

- get direct sunlight for several minutes every day, preferably on at least 1/4 of your body, even in winter (through a window is fine!) to get vitamin D

- eat a certain percentage of your food raw to profit from enzymes, vitamins, etc

In any case, eating and living right should not involve drama or stress. Only look for specific diets if you don"t see any improvement with the kind of advice provided above. Incrementally dropping bad habits and picking up good ones will do more good than obsessing over what to do to live a perfectly sane life.

If you are a woman, make sure to look for healthy diet for women as you are more exposed to negative side effects of diets on your health. Diet plans for women are not a luxury but a safety measure you should take.
